JEWELLERY CARE AND MATERIALS
Fco pieces are handmade from sterling silver or brass base metal and plated with a layer of 18ct gold. They are not mass produced, and so need careful looking after to ensure you can enjoy them for longer. Below is a guide on how to make the beauty of your jewellery last longer.
-
AVOID WATER
Getting your jewellery wet can make it tarnish. Avoid wearing in the shower, gym, or when washing hands, as it can change the colour of the gold.
-
NO SWEAT
Remove jewellery before heading to the gym or going to bed. Metal can react with sweat from your body and cause the jewellery to discolour.
-
STORE SAFELY
Each item comes with a protective jewellery box or pouch. Keeping your jewellery in these when you’re not wearing it, to prolong it’s lifespan.
-
LOTIONS FIRST
Apply all lotions and perfumes before putting on your jewellery and let dry. The acids in these will react to the jewellery and wear off the gold.
GEMSTONES
We use a range of gemstones in Fco designs, from freshwater pearls to black onyx. We endeavour to source all our stones ethically and have partnered with key suppliers who maintain these same standards. We list all stones used in each product description and their symbology.
MATERIAL
-
SILVER BASED
The majority of our jewellery is made from a 925 sterling silver or recycled silver base, and the most hypoallergenic option of our jewellery bases. It’s a soft, pliable metal that makes it easy to shape into our most delicate of designs. All our earring posts are sterling silver and anti-allergy.
-
BRASS BASED
To keep our items affordable, we use a brass base in some of our chunkier pieces. What we love about brass is that it’s the same colour as gold, and so doesn’t discolour as easily as silver. Brass is a commonly used alloy for much jewellery across the high street, and even high end designer brands
